LIP BLUSH VS. LIP FILLER

What is the difference? Which is a better investment? How do they alter the appearance of your lips? Can I do both?

Lip Blush is becoming increasingly popular due to its ability to give full, youthful, vibrant color to the lips. Lip Blush not only gives the illusion of fuller lips but also lasts several years.

Lip Blush is a popular method that creates a defined appearance and pop of color on the lips. It is also used to create a fuller, even shape. Because of its long-lasting results and technique with a tattoo machine, Lip Blush is categorized as Permanent Makeup. The average cost is between $500-$700. Color can last up to 5 years and color retouches are recommended to maintain vibrancy.

Lip Filler is a popular method that creates added volume by injecting synthetic hyaluronic acid into the lips. This creates the appearance of fuller, youthful lips. Filler tends to metabolize around 6-12 months depending on the individual. The average cost of 1 syringe of filler is $500-$1000.

A person can have both filler and lip blush done on their lips, as long as they are done a month apart. Both are described as uncomfortable sensations but an anesthetic is used in both cases.

Is Permanent Makeup really permanent?

Is Permanent Makeup really Permanent?

This is the question that I get asked the most! The main differences between conventional and permanent makeup tattooing are the depth at which the needle goes into the skin, and the composition of the colors used. The tattoo machines that cosmetic technicians use penetrate just below the epidermis while tattoo artists implant deeper into the dermis. Permanent Makeup ink rarely leaves the skin completely. There are several factors that can affect the rate at which the color leaves. Sun exposure, exfoliants used on the skin, anti-aging products, age, and metabolism. Touch-ups will be required when pigments have faded enough but should not be retouched early due to the risk of over-saturation. It is important to understand that only so much ink can be put in the skin when the skin will always retain certain colorant molecules. If you ever hear permanent makeup being described as semi-permanent, it is trying to convey the idea that it will not hold the same color and vibrancy that it has for the first year. There will always be color remaining and just needs to be touched up. It is basically a tattoo that needs maintenance every 12-24 months.

Microblading vs. Powder Brows.

Microblading Vs. Powder Brows

The Big Debate!

Powder Brows and Microblading are both categorized as Permanent Makeup. Microblading uses a small blade to make incisions into the skin to mimic the shape of individual hairs. Over time, making small incisions in the same spot could likely result in scarring. (A yearly touch-up will be required to maintain the hair stroke appearance, therefore cuts will be made over and over). Microblading should not be performed on mature or oily skin.

Powder Brows are performed by brushing pigment into the skin with a thin needle vibrating at high speed through a machine. This technique creates a powdered makeup-filled brow. It creates a shadow behind and around existing hair. Powder brows are suitable for all skin types and will not blur as time passes. A yearly touch-up will also be required. This procedure does not cause scarring and ink is placed more shallowly into the skin than microblading.

When learning about the long-term effects of Permanent Makeup, I chose to learn only machine work. This includes Powder Brows, Lip Blush, and Lash Line Enhancement. At Awaken Permanent Cosmetics, we make it a priority not to compromise the skin or create a problem that cannot be fixed.
